Yesterday was a very busy for Camden. We first had a check up with Spina Bifida clinic @ 8:30 AM. We had to see Neurosurgery, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Urology. That went well- all they do is pretty much tell us that is such a cute kid and that he is doing great!! That is always good reassuring news. You sure do have to love Paula Peterson, she is so good to all of us!! We got done around 10:00 so I talked to some friends and then went to Dustin's mom's house for a couple hours and tried to get Cam to fall asleep. You all know how hard that can be when there is no pack and play or somewhere to keep him in one spot. He wouldn't go to sleep so at 12:30 I finally left and just drove around and let him sleep in the car until about 1:15 and then went back to Primary Children's for his kidney ultrasound appt. He did really good! I was very impressed especially with how tired he was. So I was at it again, just waiting around for our last appt, which wasn't until 3:00! Uugghh!!! How exhausting! Dustin's mom came and hung out with me until our last appt. Cam had to have a CMG (bladder study). It is where they just put catheters in him (both front and back) and fill his bladder with fluid and just wait and watch to see if his bladder contracts and he empties it. We did get some good news. Dr. Cartwright said everytime Camden's bladder was full and ready to empty, his bladder would contract (or spasm) and Cam reached down towards the catheter. The Dr. said that is reassuring because that probably means that he knows when his bladder is full and he knows that he has to go. Dr. Cartwright said that is one of the things needed to be toilet trained- so I asked what else do we need to have happen?? Cam has to be able to know how to stop from going and pee and also to know how to be able to start to pee when he is ready. Isn't that funny you don't ever stop to think about what you need to be able to do just to go pee!! Yeah, I hope to not get my hopes up but I can't help but be happy! We don't have to have it again until he is 2 years old!! I hope this is it for us for at least for a few months if I say so myself. Sorry for the long explanation but that was our day.
